Rare vintage Japanese double-sided porcelain enamel advertising sign for Fundou Shoyu from Tatsuno, dating to the 1950s–1960s, 45 cm wide by 36 cm high, in poor condition with major cracks and parts missing, original/official.
Description from the seller
authentic vintage Japanese double-sided porcelain enamel advertising sign promoting Fundou Shoyu (フンドウ醤油), a well-known soy sauce brand originating from Tatsuno (龍野), Hyogo Prefecture, a region famous for traditional soy sauce production.
The design features the iconic red Fundou emblem centered on a clean white background, framed by the words 「龍野」 (Tatsuno) and 「最上」 (Finest Quality). A bold blue ribbon carries the フンドウ醤油 (Fundou Shoyu) logo, creating an elegant and highly recognizable Showa-era advertising design.
Both sides retain their original porcelain enamel finish. The colors remain bright and glossy with only light age-related wear, including minor scratches, small enamel chips around the edges, and slight oxidation consistent with decades of use. Overall, the sign presents exceptionally well and has outstanding display appeal.
A beautiful and increasingly collectible example of mid-century Japanese food advertising, perfect for collectors of enamel signs, soy sauce memorabilia, Japanese kitchen history, or Showa-era industrial décor.
