Massive-bodied bracelet bangle with majestic dragon heads - Fire Pearl - Guardian of the Celestial Empire

Magnificent solid-body bracelet, intricately carved with majestic dragon heads, ending with two dragon heads each clasping a sacred pearl (or fire pearl) between their jaws. The decoration is particularly rich, with high-relief archaic motifs evoking scales, cloud swirls, and the dragon’s sinuous body.

Each dragon presents a powerful expression and holds between its jaws a perfectly polished sphere, representing the famous Sacred Pearl or Fire Pearl, a traditional Chinese symbol of wisdom, immortality, prosperity, spiritual power and accomplishment.

The bracelet body is entirely covered with a remarkable high-relief decoration inspired by Chinese archaic art. The sculpted reliefs evoke the dragon’s sinuous body, its stylized scales, and celestial cloud swirls, elements inseparable from imperial iconography.

The inner border is adorned with a Greek-style ancient meander frieze, frequently used in Asian decorative arts as a symbol of eternity, continuity and harmony.

Inside the bracelet is an inscription consisting of engraved Chinese characters, attesting to Asian manufacture. Their reading remains difficult and has not been interpreted in order to preserve an objective description.

In Chinese tradition, the dragon (Lóng – 龙) is one of the most prestigious creatures in mythology. Unlike the Western dragon, it embodies benevolence, protection, wisdom, success, prosperity and imperial authority. Associated with celestial forces, it governs waters, clouds and rain, while being regarded as a powerful guardian against negative influences.

Through its significant presence, the quality presented and the exceptional richness of its decoration, this bracelet constitutes a remarkable traditional Chinese piece, as decorative as it is symbolic.
The reliefs, the finesse of the dragon heads and the continuous decoration evoke meticulous artisanal craftsmanship.
