What are Dzi beads:
Dzi beads are special stones originating from Tibet and India. They are known for their healing properties, which is why they are often used in meditation and prayer. Dzi beads can help free the mind and body from negative energy and promote positive thinking and positive vibrations.
Meanings of the Dzi beads:
Guanyin Dzi
The goddess Guanyin is known as the goddess of mercy and stands for the purity of the soul and immense compassion. She harmonizes life and promotes balance. With her, one can find inner peace and bliss. She purifies the soul, fosters a special need for harmony, and helps to develop great kindness. With her, one should find great love and, according to legend, be blessed with eternal blessings and happiness.
Lotus Dzi
The Dzi lotus bead has the ability to purify the mind and calm the heart. This leads to inner peace and clear consciousness. In Buddhism, the lotus symbolizes many things. But the main meaning of the Dzi lotus is spiritual revelation and purity. This is the disclosure of the true nature of a being, realized through enlightenment, compassion for all beings, and liberation from one’s own passions.
9-Eyed Dzi
One of the most popular beads, the 9-Eyed Dzi helps its owner achieve material and social happiness, good health, and success. In addition, it helps gain compassion and fame and repels evil. It also serves as a protector. It helps to attain the nine dispositions: sympathy, recognition, intelligence, popularity, dignity, power, ability to control life, prestige, and the removal of all obstacles on the life journey.
Dragon-Eye Dzi
The Dragon-Eye Dzi stone stands for good karma. It is also said that dragons live hidden between heaven and earth. The Dragon-Eye Dzi connects the human owner with these dragons.
Big Man Dzi
The Big Man or great personality Dzi attracts helpful and important people, benevolent Samaritans and mentors into your life to support you in achieving your goals and ensures a smooth flow in life.
Swastika Dzi
The Swastika Dzi or Hotu Dzi is an ancient symbol that embodies the radiant light of the Buddha from all sides. Hotu Dzi represents the law of the universe and all its aspects. It helps in studying this universal law and protects the bead owner in legal proceedings and other legal matters.
2-Eyed Dzi
Two-eyed Dzi beads are supposed to bring balance to life, energy, and relationships.
5-Eyed Thunder Dzi
These beads are said to bring success in many areas of life and are highly sought after by Feng Shui enthusiasts. Their magical effects allegedly include the ability to quickly climb the career ladder, increase intelligence, amplify the effects of auspicious symbols around the wearer, invoke joyful blessings, and achieve success in all endeavors.
Dragon Dzi Bead
The Dragon Dzi bead has a pronounced masculine Yang energy and is a symbol of masculine power. Therefore this Tibetan talisman is best worn by representatives of Yang energy, i.e., men. This Tibetan talisman helps to find and strengthen all masculine qualities. Dragons are mythical and magical creatures that, according to legend, can be a source of life and life forms. The Dragon Dzi bead helps unite the three main components of life: body, mind, and soul into a single harmonious organism. Such a connection grants the wearer of this Dzi good physical health, a lot of luck and success in business, and great spiritual power..
1-Eyed/Mountain Dzi
The "1-Eyed/Mountain" Dzi focuses on revealing talents and personal development with regard to creativity and the promotion of individual potential. It can trigger thought processes, give more intellectual ability, emphasize cognitive learning processes, and thus be helpful for certain professions that require high cognitive potential. This should help in information intake and data processing, leading to better performance and records.
Also for creative professions, the Dzi can provide constantly new ideas and innovations and thus positively influence the career, whether employed or freelance.
Often the 1-Eyed Dzi is shown in connection with a mountain peak, which is also used as a symbol for career advancement, and together with both symbols, career development is favored and existence secured.
3-Eyed Dzi
The 3-Eyed Dzi stands for success, wealth, a long life full of health and joyful experiences. This is one of the most powerful beads to obtain financial wealth as well as health, family, love, happiness, career, wealth, and creative success. It also strengthens the bond in family and partnership.
6-Eyed Dzi
The "6-Eyed" Dzi bead describes in Buddhism the concept of the 6 existences of human existence, from the lowest stage, which in Christian world is described as hell, to the highest stage of human existence, paradise. The lowest stage describes a state of self-destruction, i.e., dominant negative forces that infect the mind and drive the person to madness. Through this mental state the person is deprived of freedom. The subsequent stages describe improvement to the good, mental health, gratitude and appreciation in the small (and large) things life offers. The highest stage describes paradise, i.e., absolute contentment, bliss and peace of a person with themselves, their mind and their life, shaped by harmony and balance. Only through mental control is a person able to learn self-cultivation and self-realization and free their mind, which is beneficial for a long and worry-free life.
This Dzi is said to help keep the mind free from dominating fears and thoughts and to walk the path to total enlightenment and healing.
7-Eyed Dzi
With this stone, career and wealth are in the foreground. It also promises health and a long life.
10-Eyed Dzi
The "10-Eyed" Dzi is also referred to as a “cleansing Dzi” because it is said to purify the soul and free it from all obstacles hindering the path to success, both personally and professionally. Accordingly, the 10-Eyed Dzi is also considered a strong supportive force in business questions. It is also believed to be able to free one from misfortune and bad karma. Thus it is interesting for those who feel they are not blessed with success or are haunted by a streak of bad luck. Those who feel blocked in life, cannot realize dreams and ideas, can experience more joy and hope again through the 10-Eyed Dzi.
13-Eyed Dzi
The 13-Eyed Dzi is the symbol of 5 Dhayani Buddhas and 8 auspicious signs. The 13 eyes of the Dzi bead stand for mental calm, create a tranquil mind, and help control negative emotions. This is an excellent Dzi for those suffering from depression. This Dzi can become a source of power that harmonizes well and energizes your body, giving you a sense of wholeness, balance, and empowerment.
Kubera Dzi
The Dzi-Kubera bead is one of the most popular Tibetan talismans aimed at accumulating wealth. This Dzi symbolizes the god of wealth, Kubera or Dzambhala. These are different aspects of the god of wealth and abundance that differ in Buddhist and Hindu traditions. The power of these gods of wealth is also present in other Dzi beads.
Spider Dzi
The Spider Dzi bead is a bead for active people. The Spider Dzi bead helps its wearer navigate through information overload, plan all meetings and activities, and not get lost in the constant changes of life. This bead is particularly recommended for children and students who are stressed at school/university and have various extracurricular activities.
Turtle Dzi
The Dzi bead, the turtle shell of longevity, symbolizes one of the four heavenly animals in Feng Shui – the turtle. The Turtle Dzi bead prolongs its owner's life, grants health, and helps recover faster from illnesses. Additionally, this Dzi provides stability, brings luck, and has the function of support and protection.
Ruyi Dzi
The “Ruyi” is an encouraging Dzi bead and can grant its wearer positive energy. Translated it means “wish Dzi.” In Buddhism, the slightly S-shaped, arrow-like symbol stands for a kind of magic wand and is said to fulfill even the largest heart wishes.
Yin Yang Dzi
The symbol of Yin and Yang means translated as “the ultimate” or “the utmost.” It is not only a symbol in itself but represents a philosophy that has existed for ages. In Daoism, Yin and Yang stand for two opposing yet complementary forces. Yin Yang encompasses all polarities on earth: heaven and earth, summer and winter, light and shadow, cold and warmth, sun and moon, day and night, man and woman, etc., which are opposite yet cannot exist without each other because they balance and form a larger whole.
The color black here stands for darkness, stillness, the feminine, while white symbolizes brightness, i.e., the sun and warmth as well as the masculine.
The opposing energies or poles form a harmonious energy flow and should establish balance in the wearer's life, which can lead to more balance, calm, and serenity in daily life.
Tiger’s Tooth Dzi
The tiger is known in Chinese mythology as a creature of exceptional strength. Passionate, energetic, combative, and exceedingly brave are the most expressive attributes of the tiger. The Dzi bead “Tiger’s Tooth” is meant to empower its wearer with that same strength and fighting spirit.
The tiger knows no obstacles and is known for getting what it wants. This self-confidence, willpower, and strong focus on the goal are attributes the wearer should also gain. Thus it is a good supporter in the professional field, but can also help people with a lack of courage and self-confidence pursue their goals with more perseverance, determination and bite.
The “Tiger’s Tooth” is regarded as a power-generating talisman, especially beneficial for people who often have to overcome obstacles and need new life courage.
Insect Dzi
The Dzi stone “Insect” is also called Dzi “Luck.” It is said that the Dzi “Insect” contributes to a long and healthy life and is said to protect its wearer from illness and accidents according to tradition. Similar to the Dzi “Turtle,” it is said to grant longevity and bless the wearer with happiness. The symbol depicted on it resembles an insect with a head on both sides. The back shows a bat, which stands for blessed peace. An older variant of the Dzi “Insect” shows a spider on the back. The bat symbolizes contentment, good health, harmony and balance.
The Dzi is said to help its owner listen to their body and develop a proper understanding of health to recognize early signs of illness. It should also contribute to developing healthy self-confidence for one’s body and to assess what the body, our most important instrument of our existence, needs to stay healthy in the long term. Focusing on the needs of one’s own body represents a fundamental function of our physical and mental abilities. Maintaining one’s physical and mental health implies a healthy and varied diet, a healthy lifestyle, and a life filled with joy and love.
Bodhi Dzi
The "Bodhi" Dzi stands for kindness, warmth, a strong sense of justice, and general wisdom. It grants the wearer a generous, compassionate, and forgiving heart. Wearing the "Bodhi" can help people find their rightful and destined path.
“Bodhi” also denotes a revered Fig tree in the history of Buddhism under which the Buddha is said to have found protection and ultimately enlightenment during his meditation. Translated, “Bodhi” stands for enlightenment and wisdom and thus also describes the mental state of bodhi in Buddhism, characterized by wisdom and perfection.
"Bodhi" helps develop virtues and abilities. It is said to be especially supportive in school, training, or university and can foster cognitive abilities, memory, and transfer thinking. Particularly with regard to exams, it can alleviate insecurities and provide mental stability. It is said that many people in Buddhist-influenced countries regularly visit poplar trees to seek support in difficult life situations.
In general, "Bodhi" is also supposed to ward off bad karma and misfortune and instead attract luck. It is also said to fulfill personal wishes of its wearer and help achieve goals and personal requirements.
My personal experiences with my own "Bodhi" can be read on my blog.
Nectar Pot Dzi
The "Nectar Pot" Dzi is also called “Honey and Milk” Dzi or “Treasure Vase,” because honey and milk were valued goods and represented abundance of wealth. The Nectar Pot stands, according to tradition, for absolute carefreeness, wealth in abundance, and longevity. It should bring harmony, promote emotional balance, and protect from dangers. The wearer should lead a completely carefree and harmonious life, without constraints, with much love and, above all, health.
It is also considered a protector of the family and children.
Prosperity and financial independence should also be promoted by it.
Phoenix Eye Dzi
The phoenix is a mythical bird with a peacock-like stature. In Chinese culture, the phoenix is called “feng huang” and is one of the four legendary creatures with magical powers. It is said to contribute to self-discovery as a lucky charm and is considered the strongest talisman in the search for oneself as well as for great love. Interpersonal relationships should continually improve and intensify. The phoenix also stands for femininity and graceful beauty and should help women feel comfortable in their own skin, as it increases attractiveness, self-confidence, and radiance. The majesty and aura of this splendid bird thus transfer to the wearer and ensure that the greatest love is attracted. For existing relationships, the Dzi should have a strongly harmonizing and strengthening effect. A Buddhist proverb states: “Love is not about looking at each other, but looking together in the same direction.” In combination with the 2-Eyed Dzi, it achieves its maximum effect.
Unalome Dzi
The “Unalome” is a Buddhist as well as Hindu symbol of personal freedom and shaping one’s own life path.
The spiral on the Dzi stands for a self-journey, a journey in life and to oneself. The journey involves constant change and movement. The path of this journey goes outward, into the wide world, but also inward, into the deepest inner of our soul. The path may include obstacles, stumbling blocks, and general hindrances, but they are an important part of self-discovery. The spiral thus stands for mental and physical cleansing and renewal up to ultimate enlightenment. The beginning of the spiral symbolizes birth, its movement characterizes a steady forward movement and growth in different life phases. In many religions, it is part of the mentality, and nature also reveals spiral fascinations. Both animals and plants, ocean currents, our galaxy and our DNA exhibit spiral patterns. Thus we are all part of this creation and the journey to ourselves symbolizes the essential enlightenment for a satisfied and harmonious, self-determined life.
21-Eyed Dzi
The "21-Eyed Dzi" is according to tradition the most powerful “eye” talisman and should maximize the energy and potential of its wearer. It should be especially suitable for self-employed people and strong individualists who pursue precise visions and goals in life. It can elevate the wearer’s mental strength and willpower to the highest level to achieve goals faster.
For self-employed and entrepreneurs, the “21-Eyed” Dzi bead should bring financial success, consistently inspire with ideas and creativity, and improve and optimize the professional position. Anyone who sees themselves in a vocation and steadfastly pursues their goals can benefit from this Dzi bead. It can enable a strong outward presence and promote quick action on all levels.
The “21-Eyed” Dzi bead should also restore and build the wearer’s vitality and physical condition and can also promote faster recovery.
In combination with the 9-Eyed Dzi, it can unleash its maximum potential.
Heaven and Earth Dzi
We all know it: daily life has us in its grip. Hectic, stress, and constant tension determine our daily routine. We must realize ourselves professionally, or at least stabilize enough to feed our families and finance a decent standard of living, pay off loans, etc.
We have family that demands our undivided attention. We have ideas and visions we want to realize but put aside because work and family demand our full effort and enthusiasm.
But what is our balance? The hectic mood, the constant push on us, and the psychological strain of handling everything, permanently exhaust and, in the worst case, make us sick. Everyone needs a balance. More harmony and balance to meet the demands of everyday life.
The “Heaven and Earth” Dzi is inspired by the Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang. In Daoism, Yin and Yang stand for two opposing yet complementary forces that cannot be separated and form a whole despite their opposites. These opposites are symbolized in this Dzi by the Heaven and Earth, which are opposite yet oriented toward each other and form an indispensable unity to allow life on earth and to create balance.
The square on the Dzi stone stands for the earth and the circle for the heavens. The opposing energies form a harmonious energy flow and should establish balance in the wearer's life, which can lead to more balance, calm, and serenity in daily life. This balancing energy should apply to all areas of life and thus improve physical and mental well-being, which in turn can reflect in work, love, and everyday life — harmony in all areas of your life!
Similarly, it can relieve physical blockages and thus promote faster recovery.
5 Blessings Dzi
Sometimes we need a button to simply start over. A reboot that takes away all hurdles, worries, and blockages and returns that lightness from childhood. Often we wish for a “reset” to shed the entanglements and all negative things that burden us (unnecessarily) and make our soul heavier, to experience more ease and joy of life again.
The “Five Blessings” Dzi with five depicted bats can aid a restart, as it unites everything a person needs to live. Each bat represents a specific life area. According to legend, they symbolize welfare, a long life, a steadily successful career, wealth, and harmony in interpersonal relationships.
Translated from Sanskrit, the bat means “birth” and stands for a “new beginning.” This can refer to founding a company or generally as a new start in life. When starting a business, the Dzi should help to strengthen finances, consistently gain growth with creative and fresh ideas, and ward off all hurdles and complications.
In a life restart, whether by moving to a new place, reorienting oneself professionally, or a new love, the Dzi bead should ensure the wearer is at peace with themselves, as every new beginning involves a new self-perception and self-knowledge.
Bats are nocturnal animals and cope best in the dark. This is transferable to the subconscious, as this Dzi should help its wearer navigate their dreams at night and ward off nightmares. Thoughts and fears from the subconscious can be better managed and discarded.
Money Hook Dzi
The "Money Hook" has the task of blessing its wearer with wealth and providing financial security and protection. It symbolizes wealth and prosperity, coupled with luck and fame, by positively promoting business and advancing the career in terms of salary and finances.
Through financial security, it should also enable investing and maintaining control over wealth to counter future existential fears.
Garuda or Bird Dzi
Garuda is a mythical bird depicted as a raptor with human features. According to various traditions, he is a temple guardian and protector with supernatural powers. He is worshiped as a divine messenger in the Asian region.
Like all raptors, he should chase snakes and, as the only bird, be immune to snake venom, which is why he is regarded as divine and the king of birds. As a temple guardian, his task is to dispel evil spirits and deliver divine messages. He is considered a protector for those who travel long distances and should ward off accidents. Additionally, according to tradition, he can protect the family.
The photos were taken with professional camera setup and artificial lighting. Colors may appear slightly different under daylight. Please examine the photos closely to assess the quality and condition of the beads.
