本物の伝統的なアラブのジャンビヤ（ジャンビヤ刀）短剣で、最もおそらくイエメンまたは南アラビア半島起源と推定されます。
この短剣は、突出した中央リッジを持つ特徴的に大きく曲がった両刃刃を備えています。柄は伝統的なイエメン様式で、繊細な手作りの透かし細工と銀のドームを用いた華やかな装飾が施されています。鞘は角材の胴体を銀の透かし細工で覆い、裏面は茶色の革で木製の芯を覆っています。
元の懸垂リングと帯金具がそのまま取り付けられており、儀式衣装の一部としての使用意図が示されています。
ジャンビヤは武器以上の存在です。イエメン全域で名誉、社会的地位、文化的アイデンティティを象徴し、現在も儀式的な場で着用されています。
刃には魅力的な年齢の錆びた光沢があり、軽度の酸化が見られます。銀製の取付金具は年齢に相応しい素朴な使用痕を示しています。豊かな手彫りの装飾は、この品をイスラム・中東の民族誌美術の優れたコレクターズピースにしています。
