Japanese archaistic style bronze vase, Meiji–Taishō-Showa period, circa 1900–1950. A finely cast hexagonal bronze vessel inspired by the ritual bronzes of ancient China, decorated with stylised phoenix motifs, archaic ornament and angular side handles. Produced using traditional hollow casting techniques, the vase retains its original open interior, extending from the mouth through to the base, a characteristic of its manufacturing process that allowed the casting core to be removed after production. The vessel was intended as a decorative or scholar's object in the classical archaistic taste rather than a watertight flower vase. It displays a rich, naturally aged brown patina and remains in good original condition with only light wear consistent with its age.Height: 15cm. Weight: 550 g.
