Description from the seller

GENERAL

For sale is a splendid and highly authentic example of the Citroën 2CV 6 in the exclusive and sought-after "Charleston" trim. This vehicle is finished in the sophisticated, original French "Gris sur Gris" (Grey on Grey) colour scheme, featuring the factory-correct shades of Gris Cormoran and Gris Nocturne.

It is explicitly emphasized that this is a genuine, factory-born Charleston and not a later replica or conversion. Originating from the exceptionally dry climate of Sicily, where it was cherished by its owners for over 40 years, the car is now offered with No Reserve. It represents one of the most elegant and stable investments in the European classic car market today.

BODYWORK & PAINT

The bodywork of this classic is highly authentic and underwent a conservative partial restoration approximately 12 years ago. At that time, the body was professionally repainted in the original factory color scheme, and the characteristic Charleston decals were applied. The fact that the paint still gleams beautifully after more than a decade is a testament to the high quality of the work performed.

During this restoration, targeted reinforcement panels were applied to the original floors and strategic areas of the platform chassis, preserving the original structural substance. Today, the underside is solid and fully protected by a uniform black anti-rust treatment. All side windows feature the rare, original Saint-Gobain factory branding. A professional exterior polish and a thorough detailing of the engine bay have just been completed.

TECHNICAL DATA

Under the bonnet lies the period-correct and original 602cc air-cooled twin-cylinder engine, as confirmed by the casting stamp on the engine block. While the small aluminum identification plate on the engine was lost over the years due to vibrations, the overall condition and history of the car confirm this is the native unit.

The vehicle carries the chassis number VF7AZKA00KA154026. Stamped on the bulkhead in the engine bay is the original ORGA code 3395, which mathematically dates the exact day the car left the Citroën assembly line to February 24, 1986.

INTERIOR

The interior has been completely and faithfully redone by a specialized craftsman. The seats received brand-new polyurethane foam, new elastic support bands, and high-quality covers in the classic grey Charleston diamond pattern ("Tissu Losanges Gris"). Underneath the carpets, bituminous soundproofing sheets have been applied to the floor to dampen vibrations and provide the cabin with better thermal and acoustic insulation.

A lovely touch of originality is the soundproofing felt under the bonnet, which has been deliberately kept in its original state with a charming patina to preserve the historic authenticity of the vehicle.

DOCUMENTS

The absolute originality of this 2CV is backed by official certification. The vehicle is officially registered with the Italian National Historic Register A.A.V.S. (a FIVA-affiliated association) under registration number VK 9154. The original certificate is present and will be handed over to the buyer.

Additionally, the car is being delivered with a freshly passed, official Italian mandatory technical inspection (Revisione). This up-to-date technical check significantly simplifies the registration and licensing process in any European destination country, minimizing bureaucracy for international buyers.

PICK-UP

The Citroën is currently road-ready in Sicily and prepared for European export. Following a successful sale, the logistics, transport management across Europe, and the preparation of the necessary export documentation can be fully arranged by the seller upon request and by prior agreement.

All costs associated with transport, deregistration for export, and any country-specific registration fees remain the sole responsibility of the buyer.

FURTHER INFORMATION

This highly traceable 2CV retains its original soul and is ready to be driven immediately. Thanks to the mild Sicilian climate, the car was spared from road salt and harsh northern winter frosts. Recently, as part of its maintenance, the front brake pads and handbrake pads were replaced, new headlight reflectors were installed for improved visibility, and a fresh engine oil change was performed.

The air ducts and air filter hose in the engine bay were also renewed. This car is not a sterile museum piece, but a reliable, beautifully preserved classic in "high-quality driver" condition, ready to bring immense joy both at historic car events and on regular road trips.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
