この本は1969年2月に刊行され、東京大学の抗争が終局へ向かう時期と重なる。表紙に描かれている、東京大学安田講堂で機動隊と学生が激突する場面は、社会に大きな影響を与えた。本書には東大と日本大学の抗争を伝える記事のほか、記者のSouichi Oyakeの寄稿も収録されている。本書はグラフ誌らしく、多数のモノクロ写真を豊富に収めているが、巻頭にはカラー写真も掲載されている。医科大学問題から始まった東京大学の争いは、すでに大学の舞台を政治的な戦いの様相へと変えつつあった。さらに、日本大学の2億円の未経費資金の追及、九州大学のジェット機墜落事故、移転問題など多くの話題が取り上げられ、「大学の危機」が私たちの意識の前景へと突き出されている。（The Japanese Photobook 1912-1990に収録）
