中国陶製のラム像、漢代
この陶器の像は、丸みを帯びた体、短く力強い脚、上を向けられた頭部、特徴的な巻きついた角を持つ立つ雄羊を描いています。形は簡素でありながら表現力があり、古代中国の陶器動物像にしばしば見られる力強く古風な性格を示しています。
表面には灰白色の覆錠、風化、年年代による摩耗、そして脚部・体部・顔のディテール周辺を中心に欠損が見られます。こうした陶器の動物像は埋葬品として作られるのが一般的で、古代の葬祭習慣と結びつき、家畜・繁栄・死後の供物を象徴していました。
