Vintage Japanese Kitchen Knife Set – Sakumitsu Deba & Registered Kokkan Yanagiba – Traditional Japanese Chef Knives

A beautiful vintage set of two traditional Japanese kitchen knives, consisting of a Deba knife and a Yanagiba knife, both featuring engraved maker marks and showcasing the craftsmanship of Japanese culinary blades.

The left knife is a traditional Deba knife signed “Sakumitsu (作光作)”. Deba knives are heavy Japanese fish-cutting knives designed for preparing whole fish, including filleting and cutting through bones. The wide and sturdy blade reflects the traditional Japanese approach to professional kitchen work.

The right knife is a Yanagiba knife signed “Registered Kokkan (登録國冠)”, with the “Kokkan (國冠)” mark burned into the wooden handle. Yanagiba knives are iconic Japanese single-edged slicing knives, especially valued by sushi chefs and Japanese cuisine professionals for preparing sashimi and delicate slicing.

Both knives feature traditional Japanese wooden handles and authentic vintage construction. Their aged appearance and original markings make this set attractive not only for practical use but also for collectors of Japanese knives and traditional craftsmanship.

Please carefully examine all photographs before bidding.

This set is recommended for collectors and enthusiasts who understand vintage Japanese knives and who have the knowledge and experience to perform their own cleaning, sharpening, and maintenance.
