現代の金製マウントに納められた、青色ファイエンスの古代エジプトの護符で、ウェジャット（ホルスの目）を描いたもの。ウェジャットは、人間と鷹の特徴を組み合わせた抽象的な目の輪郭を描いています。上部の突起は眉を、中央の突起はアーモンド形の目の角を表します。その下には垂直で長方形の頬の印があり、それを起点として護符は背側へ真っすぐ続きます。表面・裏面ともに滑らかで飾りは施されていません。吊り下げ用に横方向に通し穴が開けられていました。この品は現代的な金製ペンダント・マウントに据えられ、上部には筋状の吊環が付いています。
ホルスは古代エジプトの最も重要な神の一柱で、通常は鷹の頭と人の体を持つ姿で描かれます。彼は太陽と月の神で、右眼は太陽、左眼は月を象徴すると考えられていました。ホルスの目、別名「ウェジャット」は、古代の護符の象徴で、特に来世の保護として、また悪を退けるためにも用いられました。このため埋葬時には遺体に身につけられたり、掛けられたりすることが多かったのです。この象徴はエジプトの生活に大きな影響力を持ち、古代の航海者は船首にこの図像を描いて邪を祓いました。

Payments of any taxes or any dispute with Customs Authorities are the sole responsibility of the buyer.
