Description from the seller
Mid-Century Liquor Set (1950s) & Rare Monogrammed Bottle Attributable to S.A.L.I.R. Murano (1960s) - Glass/Crystal - Mint Condition
Exclusive vintage lot for bar/living room, consisting of two pieces of fine artisanal craftsmanship, both in impeccable condition (MINT): no chipping, yarn, opacity or signs of wear, including bottle necks and stoppers.
1. Complete Liquor/Liqueur Set (1950s - Art Déco / Transitional Style)
• Composition: 1 bulbous bottle (flattened drop-neck flask) with original spherical stopper and 6 coordinating goblet glasses with short stems.
• Decoration: Refined white sandblasting on two sides depicting 18th-century gallant scenes (Lady and Knight). The other two sides feature a complex geometrical diamond-cut pattern with 16 punched dots around and stylized floral branch frames. The motif on the glasses masterfully synthesizes the theme with lines, dots and pine needles motifs.
• Closure: Perfect hermetic fit “glass on glass” thanks to the original grind of the neck and stopper.
• Technical data: Light, sonorous crystal glass. Bottle: H 21 cm (base Ø 6 cm, max width ~10.5 cm) - weight 269 g. Glasses: H 6.5 cm (Ø 4 cm) - weight 34 g each. Total set weight: 473 g.
2. Rare Monogrammed Collectible Bottle - Murano Manufacture (Early 1960s)
• Provenance and History: One-of-a-kind Venetian glass art piece from a family inheritance. Commissioned on Murano as a personalized gift with the monogram “I C” (grandmother’s first and last name, born and lived in Murano).
• Craftsmanship and Style: The geometric design combined with floral details, the depth of the deep carving quality and the “rice grain” motifs strongly attribute the piece to the prestigious Murano S.A.L.I.R. engraving school (Studio Ars Labor Industrie Riunite) or to high-end production by Nason, historically active on the island in this type of customized commissions in the early 1960s.
• Technique and Decoration: Transparent, massive Murano art glass. Front features the initials “I C” set within a rich frame of milled dots and “rice grain” carvings, surrounded by vegetal bands and 4 flowers. The sides and back are entirely covered with a dense pattern of irregular diamonds (following the curvature of the glass body), floral arches and botanical details etched by wheel.
• Closure: Large bottle-shaped miniature stopper (H 9 cm) with original era rubber seal for a perfect hermetic seal.
• Technical data: H 18 cm without stopper (24 cm with stopper). Width 15 cm. Rectangular base with rounded corners (8 x 6 cm). Substantial weight: 764 g.
The lot will be packed with maximum professional care to guarantee safe transport of the glass.
