exceptionally heavy, masterfully hand-carved Chinese openwork (pierced) sculpture representing Shoulao (Shouxing), the Daoist God of Longevity, alongside a celestial maiden.
Artistic Details: Shoulao is instantly recognizable by his characteristically high, domed forehead and his benevolent, smiling facial expression. He is holding the sacred Peach of Immortality in his right hand. Next to him stands a graceful maiden carrying floral attributes. Above them, intricately carved pine branches and foliage form a beautiful natural canopy.
Material & Craftsmanship: Carved from a single piece of extremely dense, heavy, and dark Chinese Ironwood/Hardwood (highly sought-after for its durability and rich natural grain). The carving features superb depth with complex openwork (pierced design), showcasing the high skill of the artisan.
Weight & Presence: This statue has an incredibly solid feel, weighing approximately 3–4 kg, which is a testament to the premium quality of the wood.
