紀元前ローマの六面体の骨製サイコロで、ラテン語で“ tessera ”と呼ばれる。各面にはリングと点の紋彫が施され、1から6へと数字が刻まれている。縁にはいくつかの不規則性があり、欠けや摩耗の跡が年齢と使用を物語る。いくつかの面はよりはっきりとした彫刻が、他の面はより摩耗している。骨の表面には小孔や変色も見られる。
ローマ人の遊戯には、サイコロの運に任せて盤や駒と一緒に使うゲームも含まれていた。賭博と娯楽が合法とされたのは12月のサトゥルナーリア祭の期間だけでしたが、年間を通じて多くのローマ人がこの遊戯に興じていた。町の酒場へ旅する兵士から、富裕な支配層まで、ローマ人は骰子遊びのファンだった。
寸法：（ circa ）長さ1.3 cm × 幅1.3 cm × 高さ1.2 cm
由来：エセックス州の紳士のコレクション品。
