Exquisite Royal Vienna (Wiener Porzellanmanufaktur) melon vase , dated 1844, of exceptional quality and charming Chinoiserie decoration.

Description & Features:

Form: Distinctive melon-shaped (melonenförmig) body with finely ribbed / gadrooned panels, creating elegant vertical fluting. Graceful ovoid silhouette with a scalloped foot and gilded rim.
Ground & Decoration: Striking light blue (lichtblau) ground richly adorned with vibrant, multi-colored floral and foliate motifs in the finest hand-painted enamels. Lavish raised and tooled gilt (gold-bunt) scrolling leaves, blossoms, and branches frame charming East Asian (Chinoiserie) figurative scenes featuring elegantly attired figures in traditional robes, some with parasols or fans, alongside potted plants, blossoming trees, and garden elements.
Dimensions: Height 12 cm (approx. 4.7 inches).
Marks: Impressed Bindenschild (beehive) Vienna factory mark with date code for 1844, along with additional impressed numerals (including “17” visible on base).

This delightful small-scale vase exemplifies the high standards of the Royal Vienna manufactory in the mid-19th century, blending Rococo-inspired shaping with popular Orientalist motifs executed with masterful precision and opulent gilding.
