Mariskaは南米の蘭州 Surinameで生まれました。Surinamese、インドネシア系、アフリカ系、オランダ系の出自を持ち、オランダで育ちました。美しいフェルメールの街デルトゥルフで育ち、レンブラントの国であるオランダに住み、香水ブランドの取材でヴェネツィアと接点を持つうち、ヴェネツィアのバロック美術・建築・歴史に深く触れました。これらの人生の影響が彼女を刺激しました。

Mariskaは自分の作品にこれらの影響を取り入れ始め、彼女の人生と存在から影響を受けました。2011年以降、数多くの賞を受賞し、多くの出版を行ってきました。現在も国際的なアートフォトグラファーとして活動を続けています。

バロック、ファンタジー、文化的アイコノグラフィーに触発された彼女の作風は、時を超えた普遍性と極めて個人的な感性の両方を持ち合わせています。彼女は女性性を、静かな調和から強い存在感まで、層状のスペクトルとして捉えています。

Mariskaはセットの構築に多くの時間をかけ、他の才能も生かしています。彼女は木炭で素描し、金・布・テキスタイルを扱い、卓越したフォトマニピュレーションの技を持っています。作品ごとに、彼女のすべての才能が一つに結集します。
