京都の名匠寺家静夫による静かで雪のような美しさを帯びた花瓶。薄く textured white surface を横切って鶴が飛翔する。
細い磁器で成形され、マットで凍った白の釉薬を施し、円筒形の胴には光の動きとともに滑らかな深みを作り出す、クリスタルのような質感が微妙に滲み出る。乳白色から光の移動に伴い最も柔らかな温かい象牙色へと変化する。
胴周りには、飛翔する鶴の浮彫（*shōkaku*）が繊細に刻まれており、長寿と優雅さの吉祥モチーフを抑制的に表現して、釉薬を支配するのではなく、優しく立ち上がらせる。
高く、優雅な比率を保つ、戦後の京都窯業美術の洗練された例として、国際的にも高く評価された作家による一品です。底には作家の印章が捺され、元箱である木箱（tomobako）とともにオリジナルの署名品として付属します。現代日本の陶磁器コレクターにとって極めて価値の高い一品です。

寺家静夫（1933年生、京都出身）は陶工の家に生まれ、磁器作家寺家東主人の子として育ちました。著名な錬釉技法「さいてん釉」の創始者である Kusube Yaichi の下で学びました。1974年にはフランス・ヴァロリス国際陶芸ビエンナーレでグランド・オナー・プリイズを受賞、1994年には日本新工芸展で教育学部賞を受賞しています。彼の作風は、現代的な感性と熟練した釉薬・陶土の技法を融合させ、自然界のモチーフと吉祥のモチーフを組み合わせた作品で特徴づけられます。
