— この ikulimbaang の品種は、丸いグリップ部に円錐形の突起を持つのが特徴で、クバ族の帽子ピンにも見られる特徴です。このナイフは17世紀初頭に Shyaam aMbul aNgoong 王によって平和の象徴として導入されたとされます。自由民の成人男性であれば Ikul の短剣を所持できた一方で、この種の儀式用ナイフを所持する特権を持てたのはクバの貴族だけでした。主に位章の象徴として使われ、儀式舞踏の際には男性も女性もこのナイフを掲げました（Elsen, De fer et de fierté, 2003; Spring, African Arms and Armor, 1993; Westerdijk, African Metal Implements, 1984）。
