Description:
A Japanese aka-raku chawan tea bowl with a low, rounded form and warm reddish-orange glaze. The surface shows soft tonal variation, with areas of grey, cream, brown, and darker kiln effects blending across the body. Fine crackle and natural glaze movement give the bowl an expressive, handmade character.
The bowl stands on a small raised foot, and the underside shows rich mottled glaze effects with earthy firing marks. Its quiet, irregular form and warm color palette make it suitable for Japanese tea ceremony, tea-room display, or as a collectible studio pottery piece.
The accompanying wooden tomobako bears handwritten inscriptions. The lid appears to identify the piece as 赤楽茶碗, meaning “Aka-Raku tea bowl,” with additional artist or kiln inscriptions and seals.
