Itoの Kasamaスタジオの作品を定義する、布地の浮き彫りを細かくつけた表情を帯びた粘土碗のような温かな質感の花瓶。
石灰磁で成形され、焼成前に織物を粘土に押し込む技法である nunome によって仕上げられたこの丸みを帯びた花瓶は、表面全体に細やかで均一な布の質感を見せ、肩から下に垂れ下がる錆色の筆致が緩く走る。狭い首と丸みのある胴体は静かで地に足のついた存在感を与え、手に触れると質感が報われる——日本伝統工芸の長い伝統の中で伊藤の名声を象徴する特徴のひとつである。

伊藤 敬彦（1939年生）
茨城県笠間に拠点を置く陶芸作家。福岡県出身。東京芸術大学美術学部工芸科を1964年卒業、同大学大学院で陶芸を1966年修了。加藤始氏と藤本吉史氏に師事。その後 Matsui Koséiの下でさらに研鑽を積み、1970年に笠間に自作の窯を築く。日本工芸会の正会員であり、1973年以降、日本伝統工芸展に度々入選、1974年東京教育委員会賞、1984年朝日新聞社賞を受賞。作品はスミソニアン国立自然史博物館および東京国立近代美術館での展覧会歴があり、1999年には日本の美術功績の最高賞のひとつである勲章の一つ、藍綬褒章を受賞している。
