現代日本で最も名高い陶芸家の一人が手掛けた、静かな威厳を感じさせる水指。
今井正幸の著名な陰介技法を用い、石釉で手作業されたこの水指は、彼の名高い刃庭斎家の仕上げの中で洗練された型押し花柄の表面を特徴とし、彼の作品を一目で識別させる密でリズミカルな質感を帯びています。型押し花柄は丸みを帯びた胴部全体に均一に広がり、光と影を等しく捕らえつつ、深い縁と蓋が静かな威厳で作品を引き締めます。茶道の用を念頭に作られており、機能の規律と熟練した作家の個性が同居しています。
【作家プロフィール】
今井正之（1930–2023）は、戦後日本を代表する陶芸家の一人として高く評価されています。大阪生まれ、広島県で育ち、備前で修行したのち、久部八一の下で京へと移り修業しました。1978年には自らの法山窯を竹原に築き、以後キャリアの大半を京都と広島の間で活動しました。胎生斎釉技法を開発し、面沉み（表面埋め込み）を先駆けたことで国際的にも認知されました。今井は2003年に日本美術院会員に任命され、2018年には日本の最高位の栄誉の一つである文化功労章を受章し、日本陶芸団体協会（日展）で代表理事を務めました。今井の作品は現在生産されていません。これは限定的な作業群です。
