Item Description
Takaoka Copperware Marbled Vase with Animal Head Handles
This metal vase was crafted using the traditional techniques of Takaoka Copperware, a metalworking tradition rooted in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture with a history spanning over 400 years. In 1975, Takaoka Copperware became the first craft in Japan to be designated a National Traditional Craft, recognized for its refined casting and finishing techniques passed down through generations of artisans. The vase features a striking marbled surface that shifts from deep green to red tones, achieved through specialized patination methods unique to this craft. Animal head motifs form the handles on either side, adding a sculptural, dynamic presence to the piece. Beyond its function for displaying flowers, the vase stands beautifully on its own as a decorative object, bringing a quiet, refined elegance to any interior setting.
