USSR Agat mechanical stopwatch, full set with original box and passport, 1988, metal construction, authentic original, working condition.
Description from the seller
Complete Soviet mechanical stopwatch set: Agat stopwatch, original plastic case and factory passport/instruction, dated 1988.
A collectible Soviet mechanical stopwatch “Agat” in a rare complete set, including the stopwatch itself, the original plastic storage box and the original passport/instruction document.
This is a Soviet-made mechanical stopwatch, produced by the Zlatoust Watch Factory under the “Agat” brand. The dial is marked with the USSR quality emblem, the Agat logo and the inscription “Сделано в СССР” — “Made in the USSR.”
The stopwatch has a large clear dial with a 60-second scale, a smaller minute counter and a division value of 0.2 seconds. It is a classic Soviet precision timing instrument, designed for sports, technical, educational, laboratory and professional timing use.
The passport identifies the model as:
Секундомер СОС пр-26-2-000
“Агат” 4295В
ГОСТ 5072-79
The document bears a factory/shop stamp from December 1988, placing this stopwatch at the very end of the Soviet period.
The stopwatch is in working condition. It starts, stops and resets. The lot is especially attractive because it is preserved as a full set: stopwatch, original case and passport.
Historical Context
Mechanical stopwatches were widely used in the Soviet Union in sports, schools, factories, laboratories, technical institutions and military-related training environments. They were practical precision instruments rather than decorative objects, and many were used heavily in everyday work.
The Agat brand, produced in Zlatoust, became one of the best-known Soviet stopwatch manufacturers. These stopwatches were valued for their simple mechanical construction, reliability and clear readable dials.
This particular example dates from 1988 — a historically important moment, just before the dissolution of the USSR. For collectors, this makes the piece especially interesting: it represents the final period of Soviet industrial production and precision instrument manufacturing.
Complete sets with the original box and passport are becoming harder to find, because the documents and cases were often lost over time. The presence of the original passport gives the item stronger historical and collectible value.
Full Set Includes
1. Soviet mechanical stopwatch “Agat”
2. Original grey plastic storage case
3. Original passport / instruction document
4. Original internal packaging / paper elements
5. Small attached tag, as shown in the photos
Condition
Good vintage condition.
The stopwatch is in working condition. The photos clearly demonstrate the operating principle: the second hand moves, the stopwatch starts and stops, and the hand resets back to zero. This is visible in several photos, where the hand is shown in different positions and then returned to the zero mark.
The chrome case is bright and attractive, with light signs of age, handling and storage. The dial is clean and readable.
The original plastic box is preserved and shows age-related wear, small marks and traces of storage. The passport/instruction is original, with folds, yellowing, creases and age-related wear typical for Soviet paper documents from this period.
Please study all photos carefully, as they are an important part of the condition description.
