ARTIST BIO : ROBIN WILSON

Robin is based in the historic village of Cowfold, West Sussex. RWCS Photographics is the sole archive agency showcasing his work as a retired freelance Press Photographer.
Robin started out taking photographs in the 1970s whilst at University, as part of of his 3D design course.
Over the last 40 years, Robin has created a large eclectic collection of stunning images, mainly of elements from different styles, in Landscape, Architecture, Street Scenes, Graffiti & Motorsport Events.
Robin was heavily involved in the development of photographic licensing systems, as a known expert working with leading picture libraries across the world. He now leads a quieter life but still has "the eye on the lens" with new activity with Drone Based Imagery.
GRAFFITI AND STREET ART
Robin is known as a graffiti archivist reproducing lost pieces of Street art which have long since vanished from view in London , Brighton , Paris , Bristol.
He has a particular photographic reproduction process for Street Art which focusses on the “image of the art” of the street art rather than the surrounding location which can and does often detract from the quality of work of a given a street artist. He started this curation process back in 2009 and his archive covers almost 2 decades of observing and photographing street art.

Street art is a form of artwork that is displayed in public on surrounding buildings, on issues, whereas other artists use urban space as an opportunity to display personal artwork.
Artists may also appreciate the challenges and risks that are associated with installing illicit artwork in public places. A common motive is that creating art in a format that utilizes public space allows artists who may otherwise feel disenfranchised to reach a much broader audience than other styles or galleries would allow.
Street art is regarded as one of the largest art movements that has achieved huge popularity and is still rapidly growing as an art form. Street artworks mainly appear in urban areas and public locations such as exterior walls of buildings, highway overpasses and bridges, and remarkably define the outlook of many neighbourhoods and cities all around the world.
On occasions its instances come in the form of guerrilla art, which is intended to make a personal statement about the society that the artist lives within. The work has moved from the beginnings of graffiti and vandalism to new modes where artists work to bring messages, or just beauty, to an audience.
