Description from the seller

Ancient Greek bronze figurine of a Stag .(300 -500 BC).
Weight: 27,6 gr Diameter:44,9 mm.

This is an ancient bronze zoomorphic figurine of a stag or doe. While the coin iconography of Ephesus is world-famous for its association with the stag and the bee (the sacred symbols of Artemis), standalone cast bronze figurines of this crude, stylized type are more typical of Geometric or Archaic Greek periods, or from regional workshops across the Mediterranean .Cast bronze with a thick, earthy, encrusted patina from burial.

Anatomy: It features a elongated, tubular neck, short stumpy legs, protruding ears, and a simplified muzzle. The lack of distinct antlers suggests it may represent a female deer (doe) rather than a stag, though ancient stylized representations often simplified these features.

Will be shipped registered and insured. I combine shipping. See also my other auctions.
