ヴァン・タウ沈没船からの白い陶器のボウル。ボウルは円形で、短くて頑丈なリング状の脚の上に座り、その凸状の壁が広い口縁に張り出す。外向きの縁には暗い顔料の帯が装飾されているが、多くは年齢と海水の曝露でくすんだり喪失したりしている。ボウルの表面には小さな付着物や被膜が見られる。年代相応の使用を示す摩耗の痕跡として、変色、ボディのへこみ、縁の欠けが二か所にある。縁から二本の垂直な亀裂が伸びている。船の沈没オークションに関するステッカーが外側から見える。
ヴァン・タウ沈没船は、近隣の町の名をとって名付けられ、ロンチャ船の沈没船である。1990年に漁師たちが nets を引き上げたときに陶磁器の山を積んだ網を引き上げて発見された。1690年前後と dated されており、船は中国からインドネシアのジャカルタへ向かっていた途中で沈没したと判断された。この磁器は、最終目的地に到着していれば、オランダ東インド会社に買われていただろう。

Provenance: 17世紀のヴァン・タウ沈没船出自、1990年に発見。
