インダス川流域文明の粘土製の小像で、男性の神を表すテラコッタ像。平らな頂部の頭飾りを冠した豪華な装飾が施されている。インダス文明の神像に見られる典型的な顔立ち、丸くへこんだ眼と際立つ鼻が特徴で、現在は欠けがある。粘土を彫刻し、体の構造や首元の装飾を丁寧に刻み込んで、さらなる解剖学的 detailを表現している。表面にはいくつかの擦り傷、欠片、土着の付着物が見られ、年齢と整合している。像は腰の部分で破片化している。両腕は肘のところで折れている。下半身に接合されていた断片の接着跡がまだ見え、現在は欠損している。
インダス文明は、メソポタミア文明と古代エジプトとともに世界初期の文明の三大発生地の一つであり、紀元前第4千年紀にさかのぼる。盛んな時期には、ハラッパーやモヘンジョダロのような場所で発展した陶器の製作技法、印章の彫刻、金属加工などの革新技術を開発した。インダス文明のテラコッタ像は神々を模して作られ、通常は奉献品（ votive offerings）として分類される。
