Description from the seller

This series of works takes the form of a cartographic and geopolitical study of the visual language of contemporary protests, using the uprisings in Myanmar as its primary case study. The research explores the subtle—and often ambiguous—line between the dramatic urgency of events and their immediate transformation into iconic imagery.
In today’s media landscape, the narrative of the conflict fragments and reassembles itself through a layered visual register: the raw violence of police repression coexists and intertwines with memes, coded messages, pop symbols, and original forms of performative protest.
The paintings adopt a zenithal perspective—a satellite view that distances and examines the territory—and are then enriched and marked by diagrams and vector surveys that trace the dynamics of flows and territorial control, as well as fragments of text and digital messages, a record of online activism and the circulation of information, visual symbols, and iconographic codes that encode cultural resistance within the pictorial space.
Going beyond mere documentation, the work superimposes and fuses these different narrative regimes, transforming the canvas into a complex map where the geography of power and the syntax of dissent clash and reorganize themselves.
