Description from the seller
Elegant Art Nouveau Bread Basket – Gallia by Christofle – Silver Plated – Pine Cone Decor
A refined and highly decorative bread basket from the renowned Gallia collection by Christofle (France), executed in high-quality silver plate.
This elegant oval model is beautifully adorned with stylised pine branches and pine cones, a design characteristic of the Art Nouveau period, reflecting the naturalistic aesthetic popular around circa 1900–1920. The motif is closely related to the regionalist decorative style developed under the influence of Charles L’Eplattenier at the School of Applied Arts in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland — a movement that also influenced early modern designers such as Le Corbusier.
The flowing lines and organic relief decoration give this piece a strong sculptural presence, making it not only functional but also an eye-catching center piece.
Originally intended as a bread or serving basket, it is equally suitable today for presenting fruit, pastries, or as an elegant decorative object on a dining or coffee table.
They have added this back to the collection this piece costs 5,300 euros and is currently unavailable at Christofle.
