English Arts & Crafts Oak Wall Cabinet - Smoker's/Pipe Cabinet with Copper Strap Hinges & Mother-of-Pearl Inlays - Edwardian Era (c. 1900) – In excellent condition – No reserve

Expertly crafted from solid quarter-sawn English oak, this robust cabinet displays the striking medullary ray figure characteristic of quarter-sawn timber, beautifully enhanced by a rich, warm patina acquired over more than a century.

Remaining true to the ideals of the Arts & Crafts movement, the exterior is adorned with decorative copper strap hinges secured by large dome-headed studs, while the double doors are embellished with elegant geometric mother-of-pearl (nacre) inlays. The original brass escutcheon, ring pull and working lock with key complete the design.

Opening the cabinet reveals a beautifully appointed interior fitted with three custom-shaped wooden display shelves, all backed by the original patterned gold damask fabric lining featuring an elegant foliate motif.

Originally intended as a gentleman's smoker's cabinet for pipes, tobacco and smoking accessories, today it makes an outstanding collector's cabinet, bathroom cabinet, hallway key cupboard or decorative wall cabinet. Its exceptional craftsmanship, original decorative fittings and highly architectural design make it a true statement piece.

Condition
The cabinet is in excellent antique condition with a wonderful, authentic patina. The solid quarter-sawn oak remains structurally sound throughout, while the original copper fittings have developed an attractive aged surface. The original interior damask lining shows expected age-related wear and slight discoloration consistent with more than a century of careful use.
The lock functions correctly and is supplied with its working key.
