Description from the seller
Overall Dimensions: Height approximately 22cm, Width approximately 17cm, Weight approximately 1.5kg
This piece is carved from a single block of natural agate, without any splicing or patching. The natural colors are rich and layered, with a milky white base interwoven with warm orange-red hues, exhibiting a translucent and lustrous quality with ample water content and a strong gelatinous texture. Under natural light, it possesses a soft, restrained luster and excellent jade-like quality.
The main body is a carved openwork woven basket with a realistic and delicate depiction of the intricate woven texture. The handle is gracefully curved. Inside, the basket is cleverly carved with auspicious fruits and vegetables: bunches of grapes, each plump and round, symbolize many children and abundant harvests; plump peaches symbolize longevity and health; and translucent lotus leaves, lotus flowers, and bean vines intertwine. The lotus leaves symbolize harmony and beauty, while the beans represent peace throughout the four seasons. The entire piece embodies multiple auspicious meanings: harvest, longevity, many children, and harmony.
The carving technique combines traditional openwork and deep relief, with layers of vines and leaves intricately carved, showcasing exquisite and complex details. Grapes, leaf veins, peach patterns, and the texture of the basket are all meticulously rendered, with graceful and fluid lines. The openwork areas are smoothly polished, free of burrs or cracks, demonstrating skillful and masterful craftsmanship.
The natural agate is stable in texture, and the entire piece is intact without any scratches, cracks, repairs, or hidden flaws. It comes with its original, finely carved rosewood base, the lacquer of which is in perfect condition, ensuring a dignified and stable presence.
This piece is a significant piece for traditional hall and scholar's study display. Jade ornaments combine aesthetic appeal, collectability, and auspicious feng shui meaning, making it suitable for gifting or personal collection. Given the limited availability of natural agate, carving such a large, single-piece openwork piece results in significant material loss, making it rare and possessing considerable potential for appreciation in value.
It will be carefully packaged and shipped via courier with tracking number.
