In “Atardecer,” José Manuel Mayo Peña captures the exact moment when the day surrenders to the fire. This work does not depict a sunset landscape: he feels it and transmits it in a pure state. The intense reds, oranges, and yellows explode with a force almost violent, as if the very light were burning before disappearing.
Wide brushstrokes, streams of color, and splashes create a sense of constant movement and overflowing energy.
