DRコングのヤカ族ドラマー像。この像は、儀式の歌に合わせて太鼓を打つ神性の伴奏者を表しています。サテン風ブロンズのパティーナが施され、白い粘土と赤い鉱物顔料のこびりつきが残っています。
階層的で権威主義的なヤカ社会は、恐ろしい戦士たちから成り、部民を生かすも死をも左右する一族の首長によって統治されていました。狩猟とそれに伴う名声は、現代のヤカ人にとって祖先を呼び起こし、“khosi”機関に関連するお守りを用いる儀式に訴える機会となっています。若者の入会社会は東部のコンゴに見られるn-khandaで、健全な系譜を保証するためにさまざまな護符と仮面を用います。
部族使用の痕跡がある良好な状態。
