A superb Ancient Greek terracotta "Dove of Demeter" votive statuette. The bird is shown standing on two short, integral legs, with a rounded head, broad body and long tapering tail. Its folded wings are indicated by softly modelled contours and faint incised detailing.
This figurine was originally painted white and remains of this pigment are still visible.
