この表現豊かなテラコッタ像は、内陸ニジェール・デルタの著名な美術伝統に属し、静かで内省的な姿勢をとる座位の胡鬚を生やした男性像を描く。胸の前で手を組み、自制と荘厳さのジェスチャーを示し、異様にふくらんだ胴体は深く刻まれた肋骨状の造形で視覚的なリズムと驚くべき立体感を生み出している。解剖学的リアリズムを強調するよりも、作家は均衡の取れたプロポーションと表現的な抽象化を通じて、力強い象徴的イメージを創出した。
