非常に珍しいモササウルス種、Gavialimimus almaghribensis（旧称 Platecarpus ptychodon, アランブール由来）は、モロッコ中部の Ouled Abdoun盆地の後期白亜紀のリン鉱床から出土した標本です。完璧な標本で、モササウルス種に特有の縦方向のリ ridges を示す、驚くほど清浄なエナメル質を有しています。源材料に対して修復や改修は一切見られません。
国際市場では Ouled Abdoun盆地（モロッコ）の上部白亜紀のリン鉱山から産出するモササウルスの歯が非常に一般的に流通しています。これらの採掘場は過去世紀の初頭から開発されてきました。多くの販売者は、この化石について正確な分類識別作業を十分に行っていません。
