表面には VIR - GIN - MAT - DOL - EN（Virgini Matri Dolorosae の略、意味は「苦悶の聖母マリアへ」）と刻まれています。
反対面には、腕を開いたキリストが棘の冠を戴き、キリスト教の信仰の象徴である磔と復活を示しています。
