**Rare Pair of Asmat Sacred Bull Roarers – Field Collected 1995**
西パプア（インドネシア領ニューギニア）のアスマット族の木製の**雄牛の鳴らし**、1995年に現地で収集された、珍しく重要なペア。

These sacred ritual objects were used during **boys’ initiation ceremonies**, when young initiates were introduced to the spiritual world of their ancestors. When swung through the air on a cord, the bull roarers produce a deep humming sound believed to be the voice of ancestral spirits, adding a powerful and secret dimension to the ceremonies.
これらの聖なる儀式道具は、**少年の入門儀式**の際に使用され、若い入門者が祖先の精神世界へと導かれるときのものです。紐で空中を振り回すと、雄牛の鳴らしは深いハミング音を奏で、祖霊の声であると信じられ、儀式に力強く秘められた側面を加えます。

Because of their sacred status, bull roarers were traditionally kept hidden from women and uninitiated boys and were exceptionally difficult to acquire. Authentic field-collected examples are therefore rarely encountered on the market.
聖なる地位ゆえ、雄牛の鳴らしは伝統的に女性や未入門の少年には隠され、手に入れるのは極めて困難でした。現地で収集された本物の例は、市場ではめったに見かけません。

This matching pair displays a fine, time-worn patina consistent with ritual use and age. A significant addition to any collection of Oceanic tribal art, reflecting the rich ceremonial traditions of the Asmat.
