マリスカは南米・スリナム出身。スリナム系、インドネシア系、アフリカ系、オランダ系の血を引く彼女は、オランダで育ちました。 美しいフェルメールの都デルフトで育ち、レンブラントの国・オランダに住み、香水ブランドの取材でヴェネツィアと触れ合い、ヴェネツィアのバロック美術・建築・歴史に深く感銘を受けました。彼女の人生のこれらの影響は、彼女の作品にインスピレーションを与え、彼女の存在とともに作品へと結実しています。
マリスカは自分の作品にこれらのインスピレーションを組み込み始め、生活と存在からの影響を受けた作風を築いていきました。キャリアの中で多くの賞を受賞し、さまざまな出版物にも登場しています。

バロック、ファンタジー、文化的アイコンをモチーフとした彼女の作美は、時を超えた普遍性と深く個人的な感情を併せ持っています。彼女は女性性を、静かな調和から強く存在感のあるものまで、層状のスペクトラムとして捉えています。

マリスカはセットの構成に多くの時間をかけて丁寧に取り組み、他の才能も同時に発揮します。石炭鉛筆で下絵を描き、金、テキスタイルを用い、写真の加工技術にも卓越しています。彼女の才能は、彼女が生み出すすべての作品で一つに結実します。
