ボタン-がた（牡丹形）様式の大胆に装飾的な漆塗りの棗（茶入れ）— 秋田県の川連漆器伝統を vivid に display する。
外装は、深紅の漆黒の線に対して緻密に組み合わされた菊の花弁の浮彫模様が全面を覆い、光を受けるたびに表面が豊かに浮き立つ。内側は純粋で艶やかな黒で仕上げられている。蓋は適度な重量感をもってぴっちりと収まり、形状は熟した牡丹の花のようにふくよかに膨らんでおり、茶の席で自信に満ちた儀式的な存在感を与える。
箱には手書きのラベル「Botan-gata（牡丹形）」が添えられており、デザイン指定を確認できる。
【作家と伝統について】
中村宗悦（なかむら そうえつ、1932年生まれ）は石川県出身の漆芸作家の第一人者である。1946年から父に師事して髹漆（くしゅう — 筆とへらを用いた urushi 漆塗りの技法）を学び、以後この厳しい技に生涯を捧げてきた。妙高寺の禅宗僧・中尾常命の指導のもと、茶道の知識を深め、正式な茶器づくりに邁進した。数多くの全国漆器展（全国漆器展）で受賞し、1987年には茶名「聡玉（ソウキョウ）」を授与され、1992年には茶道講師として准教授に任命された。彼の作品は日本全国の茶道実践者にとって大切にされている。
川連漆器は、日本の伝統工芸として1976年に指定され、秋田県川連地域で800年以上にわたり生産されてきた。その特色は、花梨塗り仕上げの技法—最後の漆を乾燥させたまま磨かないことで生まれる、伝統に特有の柔らかな有機的光沢である。
【状態】
優品。漆表面は生き生きとしており、欠け・亀裂・大きな擦り傷はなし。慎重な保管に伴う若干の経年は見られるが、小さな兆候程度である。元箱（共箱、ともばこ）と元の布袋（仕服、しふく）が付属。川連漆器の認証冊子も同梱。
