今井正行の現代日本陶芸の泰斗の一人で、文化勲章、日本最高の芸術栄誉を受けた洗練された茶碗。
この茶碗は作者の署名技法「印花（いんか）」を用いて装飾され、器身全体を緻密でリズミカルな葉模様が轟くように覆います。淡い灰白色の表面は穏やかで古風な温かみを帯び、露出された足部には自然の粘土と明確に押印された作家の印が露わになります。その形は今井の熟成した作品を特徴づける、地に足のついた佇まいと控えめな気品を備え、じっくりと観賞するとその価値が報われる一作です。
今井正行は「面靱（めんぞうがん）」の第一人者として称えられ、独自の「胎土在仔」モスグレーズ技法を開発しました。この格の高い作家の作品は、元箱（木箱）を完備したものも含め、現代日本の工芸陶芸コレクターの間でますます人気を集めています。
