起源: Sirmium（パンノニア・セクンダ / 現在のセルビア共和国 Serge Mitrovica 市周辺）
材料: 磨耗された哺乳類 cortical bone（皮質骨）
この極めて保存状態の良い6世紀の髪飾り用具（acus crinalis）は、長骨の密度の高い部位から彫刻されており、長軸に沿って可視的なオステオン構造と自然な暗色の血管孔が残る。物品は、後漢末期から初期ビザンツ帝国の上流階級女性が好んだ重い編み上げ髪型を固定するために設計された、長く緩やかに細くなる丸軸を特徴とする。軸は垂直の溝が刻まれた建築風の頭部ベースで終わり、それが突出した両面長方形の装飾プレート（フィニアル）へと移行している。
長方形プレートの正面には、三体の裸体の人物が露骨な性行為に従事する場面の深い浮彫が刻まれている。
構成: 単純に並んでいるのではなく、人物は動的で重なり合う連続体として配置されている。四肢・臀部・手の位置取りは、意図的な、体操的な結合を示唆している。
