ロレックス Datejust リファレンス16233は1988年に初登場し、前モデルに比べて顕著なアップグレードを実現しました。
このリファレンスは直系の前モデルである16013の直接の後継機であり、時には「アメリカン・サイコ・ロレックス」と呼ばれることもあります。
このモデルは往年のクラシックな36mmケース径を踏襲しており、今日の基準からするとやや控えめと見えるものの、さまざまな手首サイズには非常によく合います。
