表面にいくつかの錆びと錆色の皮膜が付着した、古代中国（漢代）・五枚の銭の選択。円形の表面に中心に方孔がある、典型的な中国銭貨の模様をしています。下段の二枚と上段の右端の三枚の小さな銭は、新朝の第四次貨幣改革（西暦14年、AD 9–23）で製造されました。二字は「貨泉」と読まれます。左上の二枚は漢代の五铢銭です。五铢銭は漢代の西元元にあたる西漢（紀元前206年–AD 9）から初唐（AD 618–907）初期まで一貫して製造されました。銭面の「铢」の曲線状の上部は、西漢以降の鋳造スタイルを表しています。表面には摩耗、錆、土色の付着が見られます。銭の一枚には片側が大きく欠けています。
Huo Quan銭は、新朝の第四次貨幣改革（AD 14）で製造されました（AD 9–23）。新朝は、西漢（206 BC – AD 9）と東漢（AD 25–220）の間に短命の王朝として成立・統治した王莽（Wang Mang/王莽）による支配であり、約紀元前45年 – AD 23です。一部の歴史家は伝統的に王莽を簒位者と見なしますが、別の観点では彼を先見的かつ利他的な社会改造者として描く向きもあります。彼は調和のとれた社会を作ろうとしましたが、既存の社会構造を無視した結果、混乱を招くこととなりました。彼の最も批判を浴びた政策のひとつが四貨幣改革であり、経済的混乱を招いたと考えられています。
