impresive original Soviet ceremonial award banner, presented to winners of the Socialist Competition in the USSR.

The banner features the large inscription:

“Пролетарии всех стран, соединяйтесь!”
“Workers of the world, unite!”

and below:

“Победителю в социалистическом соревновании”
“To the Winner in Socialist Competition.”

At the center is a magnificent large State Emblem of the USSR with hammer and sickle, globe, red star, wheat, rising sun and the multilingual motto on the surrounding ribbons.

Particularly important: the decoration is embroidered

This is not a simply printed Soviet flag.

All major lettering is embroidered, including the huge inscriptions above and below the emblem. Even the numerous small inscriptions on the ribbons of the USSR coat of arms are individually embroidered.

The central emblem itself combines detailed embroidery, decorative cordwork and textile appliqué. The banner is finished with traditional golden-colored fringe.

This elaborate workmanship gives the piece considerably more visual and collectible appeal than an ordinary printed Soviet flag.

Large award banners were prestigious symbols of achievement in Soviet working culture and were displayed by factories, enterprises and organizations that won Socialist Competitions.

CONDITION

Good original vintage condition with age-related signs of use and storage.

The front remains highly decorative and visually impressive, with the emblem and embroidered inscriptions well preserved.

The reverse shows several small holes, marks, stains and traces of age, all clearly shown in the photographs. There are natural folds and creases from storage. The fringe also shows normal age-related wear.
