Description from the seller
Item Description
This is a substantial Oribe ware ceramic charger plate (bansei, or large flat serving dish) by the ceramic artist 鈴木智 Suzuki Satoshi, intended for use in the Japanese tea ceremony or as a decorative display piece. The plate features the characteristic green Oribe glaze pooling unevenly over a dark, textured clay body, with a carved and faceted rim that gives the piece a rustic, hand-built quality typical of Oribe ware tradition. Concentric incised lines and a small brushed mark are visible at the center of the interior, and the reverse and rim show the natural glaze variation and iron spotting associated with wood- or gas-fired Oribe pieces. The plate comes with its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako), which adds to its authenticity and provenance as a studio work by this artist.

Height: 4.5 cm
Width: 31.5 cm
Depth: 31.5 cm

Condition
The plate has been visually inspected and shows no notable damage, chips, or cracks; the glaze surface displays natural firing characteristics rather than wear-related flaws. Minor glaze pooling, pinholing, and iron spotting are inherent to the Oribe firing process and are not considered defects.
