Rare & Authentic 1966 Commercial Invoice: Sudanese Sesame Import to Greece via s/s "HURRICANE"
An exceptionally well-preserved piece of 1960s international maritime and trade history. This original Proforma Invoice, dated 22nd February 1966, documents a major shipment of 333 bags (approx. 25 tons) of Sudanese sesame seeds sent from Port Sudan to the historic port of Piraeus, Greece.
Issuer: African Trading Company Limited (Khartoum, Sudan) – specialists in gum arabic and raw commodity exports during Sudan’s early post-independence era.
Vessel & Route: Transported aboard the steamship s/s "HURRICANE" (Bill of Lading No. K/PIREAUS/6).
Insured by Lloyd’s Insurance Co., with pricing rendered in the classic pre-decimal British currency system (£2,026 11s 5d). Includes a 2% agents' commission breakdown for Messrs. C. Metsis & Co. in Athens.
Features a crisp, original dark-blue ink signature from the company director, along with an authentic purple oval rubber stamp from El Nilein Bank (Khartoum).
Very Good vintage condition for its age. Crisp paper texture, clean typewriter imprint, clear ink stamps, and sharp signature. Minor age-appropriate toning near the edges adds to its authentic retro character. Please see high-resolution photos for exact condition.
