Structural Pause は、手付かずで開放的な構図を支える大胆な黒い形を核として構成される、巨大な抽象作品です。キャンバスの左下部に重く、ほとんど建築的なL字形の要素が占め、その間には細かな水平・垂直の線と中央右寄りの小さな暗い結節点が交差しています。

重量と繊細さの対比が作品の緊張感を生み出します。支配的な黒い形は堅固で意図的に感じられますが、周囲の線は不規則で手作業で描かれていることが明確にわかります。それらは表面を区切りますが、硬い格子状にはせず、暖かなオフホワイトの背景の大きな空白を開放して露出させます。

構図の下には、控えめな引っかき傷やエッチングの線が全体の表面に見え続けます。これらの痕跡は、最初は非常にミニマルに見えるイメージに動きと奥行きを導入します。絵具の小さな不完全さ、痕跡、変化は意図的に保持され、作品のキャラクターの一部となっています。

結果として、この作品は抽象、ドローイング、建築ノートの間のどこかに位置します。形は削ぎ落とされていますが、拡大して近くで見ると触覚的で明確に物理的です。

About the Artist

MiLo (1976) is a self-taught Dutch contemporary artist based in the Netherlands. His work explores abstraction through bold forms, scratched and etched lines, layered surfaces and deliberately imperfect gestures.

His paintings often combine strong graphic elements with quieter traces embedded in the surface, creating a tension between control and spontaneity. Works by MiLo are held in private collections throughout Europe, as well as in the United States, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
