【Product details】

A five-piece Japanese Buddhist altar set from the Showa era, consisting of two pairs of brass candle holders in different sizes and a three-legged incense burner. These pieces were traditionally arranged on a Buddhist household altar (butsudan) for the offering of candlelight and incense.

The four candle holders have elegant tiered forms with rounded sections and wide circular drip trays, each fitted with a central spike for securing a candle. The larger and smaller pairs share a closely related design, creating a balanced and harmonious altar arrangement.

The brass incense burner has a broad rounded body supported on three decorative feet, with a gently flared rim. Incense burners such as this were used for burning incense as an offering, one of the central devotional practices of Japanese Buddhism. Together, the candle holders and incense burner form a characteristic group of traditional Buddhist altar fittings.

Relatively good vintage condition. There are age-related scuffs, discolouration, corrosion, patina and dirt, as well as remaining traces of wax and ash from previous use. Please refer to the photos for details.
