Description from the seller
Set of 3 Hand-Carved Balinese Wooden Figures – c. 1950-1970
A striking set of three hand-carved and hand-painted wooden figures from Bali, Indonesia, dating approximately to the 1940s–1950s.
The set consists of one large ceremonial female bust with an elaborate carved headdress, together with a male and female kneeling figure shown with their hands together in a traditional respectful/prayer gesture.
All three pieces show fine hand-carved workmanship, expressive facial features and richly painted decoration in black, red, green and ochre tones. The two smaller figures display an attractive aged craquelure to the painted surfaces, while the large bust retains strong carved detail and visible traces of its original painted decoration.
These are decorative hand-crafted Indonesian objects with clear age and character, not modern mass-produced pieces.
Condition is good for their age, with natural patina, craquelure, small paint losses, surface wear and minor age-related imperfections. No restoration has been carried out.
