金冠付きの旧戦闘帽子、陣笠 (Jingasa)
「陣笠」は、室町時代以降、陣中で歩兵や雑兵が使用した帽子です。 helmet の代わりに頭を守るために着用されました。
陣笠は薄い鉄、革、和紙などの素材で作られ、表面には漆が施されています。後の時代には、侍の外出用にふちを反り上げた漆塗りの帽子が用いられました。時とともに、社会的地位・階層を反映した芸術的な意匠や素材を取り入れた品へと進化しました。
江戸時代には黒漆塗りで家紋が施され、将軍と旗臣の野外活動にも用いられました。
